What to Expect for this Taurus Full Moon & Total Lunar Eclipse

By: Sophie Wingert, Holistic Practitioner

The full moon is one of the four phases of the moon during which the earth is positioned in between the sun and the moon. During a full moon, the moon appears as luminous as a fully illuminated disc. This phase represents completion, fertility, abundance, and transformation – a season when the seeds planted during the new moon come into full bloom. Because the moon is directly opposite the sun during this phase, the full moon can also be a time of friction, polarity, and intensified emotional energy.

A total lunar eclipse is when Earth's shadow is cast across the entire lunar surface. While a solar eclipse opens the portal for new beginnings and change, a lunar eclipse also reveals energies that help us complete a journey or shift our course in some way.

On Tuesday, November 8th, we will simultaneously experience a full moon in Taurus as well as a total lunar eclipse. As a result, there will be an increase in accessible energy to take in during the few days before and after this event. These lunar events work hand-in-hand as the full moon represents completion and the total lunar eclipse represents new beginnings.

Regardless of where your Moon sign lies, we will all feel the influence of the Taurus energy for a couple of days this month. When the Moon is in Taurus, there is an emphasis on getting what we want as Taurus is oriented toward filling our needs. If there are things you have longed for, there is no better time to make them happen than a Taurus Moon. During this particular lunar phase, we will feel more drawn to the feelings of comfort, security, and the desire to fulfill our needs in all areas of our lives.

Taurus represents the element of earth with its grounding and unchanging qualities. Be cautious for the feeling of stubbornness during the Taurus full moon; in a transformational time, these tendencies can be self-defeating. A Taurus full moon is a wonderful reminder to pay attention to our senses - what we can touch, taste, smell, and feel - so that we can ground ourselves and appreciate the simple things in life.

There are several at-home self-care routines that you can practice during the time of this full moon and total lunar eclipse to harvest the energies cultivated. Spend time tying up any loose ends in your life. Take time for yourself by taking a bath or spending a day in nature.

Journal using the following prompts:

  • Where do I need to slow down in my life and not be in such a rush?

  • Am I using all the resources available to me to help reach my goals?

  • What do I value most in myself?

Some other self-care practices that can be very beneficial during this time include breathwork to release stagnation. Manifest what you want in this next season with our MANIFEST flower essence.
