Lenten Full Moon in Virgo

The moon, being the closest astronomical body to Earth, has a profound effect on us. Just like the moon's phases affect the ocean's tide, we too are affected by the lunar cycle. It represents the feminine, emotional, creative and nurturing aspects of our lives.

The full moon marks the end of a chapter. It invites us to let go of that which we have outgrown or no longer need by shedding light on the people or projects, beliefs or feelings that are interfering with our spiritual development. During the Full Moon we are invited to release these things - whether they be relationships, grudges, anger, addictions, etc.

Tomorrow's full moon is extra special as it is the last Full Moon of Winter arriving just one week before the start of Spring. It's often referred to as the Worm Moon - in reference to the earthworms that are making their way through softer ground and the Lenten Moon - the liturgical season of cleansing and preparation. The Lenten Moon serves as a sort of foreshadowing of the rebirth that comes with Spring. It reminds us that light and life are just around the corner after a sometimes dark and harsh Winter.

During the full moon energy peaks then releases creating an opening for change. Full moons are in opposition with the Sun, meaning we experience a feeling of tension between the Full Moon Sign and it's opposite. Tomorrow is the Full Moon in Virgo. In this case there is a Virgo / Pisces duality. Earthy Virgo focuses on organization and diligently working while watery Pisces focuses on your path. This raises internal questions like...

Am I doing what I am here to do?

Am I in alignment with my purpose?

Virgo's tendency is toward deep thinking which often leads to over-thinking and over-analyzing. So if the Full Moon starts pulling you into that cyclical mental energy, just remember on the other side of that, Pisces is whispering in your ear to trust. Trust your instincts and trust your struggle.

Full Moons are about purging, cleansing and clearing. Cleanse yourself of the desire to make sense of everything. Trust the intuition of Pisces rather than getting caught up in the incessant hamster-wheel thoughts of Virgo needing to know all the details of life.

As the effects of the Full Moon linger for the next two weeks we are enveloped into a state of self-healing. We're reminded that Virgo is symbolized by the virgin. Characterized by vulnerability and warrior energy, she represents strength and inner power.

As we've just celebrated International Women's Day I am reminded of this powerful feminine energy that has been rising up in us and around us. It makes sense that this inner warrior which is associated with Winter is now tapping into the softer side of her attributes which we find in Spring - the heart. By connecting more deeply with our heart were being invited to pay attention to what has heart and meaning.

How are you being invited to draw upon your inner strength and power?

In what ways can you pay closer attention to what has heart and meaning?

This Sunday is our first Full Moon Circle. We will be gathering below the glow of the Lenten Moon in Virgo to release seemingly stuck patterns by journaling and energy healing. Together we will purge those old beliefs that don't ring true and don't resonate with our true and higher self. To join us register here.

If you are unable to join us we invite you to activate your own self healing by writing down what you are ready to release then burning it as a symbol of letting go. You can do this alone or with a group of friends where you can share in this experience.
