Microneedling FAQ

Microneedling Information & Care

Microneedling is a collagen induction therapy that is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure involving the use of a Microneedling pen that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create micro-injuries. This collagen induction therapy will give you plumper, smoother and healthier skin.

HOW DOES SKIN INJURY MAKE MY SKIN LOOK BETTER?

Microneedling stimulates healing by causing a controlled injury to the skin. With a facial or declotte treatment you will see a luminous glow for a few days afterward. But following a Microneedling treatment, you will keep that luminous glow for four to six weeks.

WHAT SKIN CONCERNS DOES MICRONEEDLING TREAT?

Microneedling is known to naturally smooth, tighten and target aging areas of the face and body. Microneedling treats and prevents wrinkles, aging skin, surgical and hypertrophic scars, stretch marks, acne and pitted scars, sagging skin, hyperpigmentation, UV damage, rosacea, and Melasma.

After your skin has received the Microneedling treatment, we will apply a combination of serums and vitamins to the skin to support resurfacing, healing and renewal. You will see an improvement in the overall condition of your skin, improved skin tone, and reduced discoloration of your skin.

IS IT TRUE THAT MICRONEEDLING BOOSTS PRODUCT ABSORPTION BY 3000%?

Microneedling can increase product absorption and effectiveness during the first hour after your treatment. This is why the microneedling treatments at Saffron & Sage contain serums and vitamins that support cellular renewal, increased collagen production, smoother skin texture and tone, smaller pore size, reduction in the appearance of scarring and hyperpigmentation, not to mention enhanced radiance.

Enhanced Absorption of Topical Products: The micro-injuries created during microneedling treatment can temporarily increase the skin's permeability, allowing for better absorption of topical skincare products, including serums, moisturizers, and growth factors. This can enhance the effectiveness of these products and further improve skin health and appearance.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MICRONEEDLING?

Increased Collagen Production: Microneedling stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that are essential for maintaining the skin's firmness, elasticity, and overall structure. This increased collagen production can help improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Improved Skin Texture and Tone: Microneedling can help smooth out rough skin texture, reduce the size of enlarged pores, and improve overall skin tone. This leads to a more even complexion and a healthier-looking skin surface.

Reduced Scarring: Microneedling has been shown to be effective in reducing the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, and other types of scars by breaking down scar tissue and promoting the growth of new, healthy skin cells.

Enhanced Skin Radiance: Microneedling can help improve blood circulation to the skin, which can result in a brighter, more radiant complexion.

Treatment of Hyperpigmentation: Microneedling can help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, such as age spots, sunspots, and melasma, by promoting the turnover of pigmented skin cells and encouraging the growth of new, evenly pigmented skin.

Overall, microneedling treatment can result in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin, with improvements in texture, tone, and overall radiance. However, individual results may vary depending on factors such as the severity of skin concerns, the number of treatments received, and the individual's skin type and response to the procedure. It's important to consult with a qualified skincare professional to determine if microneedling is suitable for your specific needs and to develop a personalized treatment plan.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT?

First your face is thoroughly cleansed with our double cleanse process followed by professional exfoliation using a noninflammatory, sugar-cane based, glycolic peel. Then, a topical anesthetic is applied to your skin prior to the Microneedling treatment. When the treatment begins, a serum will be applied to your skin to help the Microneedling pen gently glide over your skin. The needling itself typically feels like a slight vibration, and almost like a massage with tingling on your skin. During the collagen induction process, the tiny needles in the Microneedling pen will penetrate through your skin but will not remove it. Since your skin will only be punctured, it will heal quickly.

Your skin will lightly bleed but only for a few seconds. The mini-punctures will trigger the production of your very own growth factors that eventually result in collagen production. New collagen production can be further increased by the use of growth factor boosters outlined in your skincare protocol personalized for you by your Provider. You can expect your Microneedling treatment to take about two hours. Your skin will be red for less than an hour for darker skin tones and several days for lighter, more sensitive skin tones.
