What to Expect for this Pisces New Moon
By: Sophie Wingert, Holistic Practitioner
In astronomy, the new moon is the first lunar phase, when the Moon and Sun have the same ecliptic longitude. At this phase, the lunar disk is not visible except when it is silhouetted against the Sun during a solar eclipse. The new moon marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle and often brings with it an array of new beginnings. This leaves new moons feeling like a particularly ideal time for self-reflection, course correction and goal-setting.
Pisces is the last constellation of the zodiac. As a water sign, Pisces are known for being emotionally sensitive, gracious, and emotionally aware. Pisces are regarded for being among the most sympathetic of the zodiac signs, and they will go to great lengths to ensure the happiness of those around them. They're also creative and imaginative.
The New Moon in Pisces on February 20th inspires us to imagine the future we want. As the final sign of the zodiac, Pisces can also be about releasing and letting go. In the days just before the new moon, consider reflecting on what you can let go of to create space for something new in your life.
This is a really good time to sit down and reflect. Here are some journal prompts to guide you through your reflection during this new moon:
What is something I can let go of that is no longer serving me?
What is the one actionable step I can focus on this lunar cycle to get me closer to reaching my highest potential?
Some other tools you try to harness the Pisces energy during this new moon include tying up any loose ends in your life and creating a vision board for your personal and/or professional life. Set aside time for yourself to embrace the Pisces element of water and take a bath. Finally, breathwork can be a great tool for releasing blockages and creating space in your energetic body for a fresh start.
